The Team

Providing an inexhaustible source of advice, not to mention a tireless amount of enthusiasm to inspire you on the water, the OTC team is a highly professional outfit dedicated to ensure your visit to us is both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Tris Best - Director

Having graduated from the Industrial Design course at Loughborough University in 2001, Tris was headhunted for the post of Features Editor at Windsurf Magazine. Taking on the additional role as their Test Editor in 2004, he left the office life in 2006 to establish The OTC, realising that there was a gap in the industry for a more accurate way for testing, evaluating and developing windsurfing equipment, not just for magazines and the brands themselves, but for the end user as well.

Ben Wood - Director

Joint co-founder of The OTC, Ben is an extremely talented watersports enthusiast, having represented Australia in sailing whilst his real passion is surfing. Experienced in repairing boards, he is very knowledgeable in materials and processes used in board manufacture, and has a great feel for board shaping for both waves and flat water.

Adam Lewis - Centre Manager, Tenerife

A member of the Team Airborn crew in the UK, Adam is one of the country’s up and coming stars, with more freestyle tricks than you can shake a stick at. A experienced instructor, he is sure to be a name to look out for in the future, both on the national and international stage.

Simon Todd - Centre Manager, UK

Simon joins The OTC in the UK as our Centre Manager. Having worked for Windtek for a number of years, he knows Portland Harbour better than anyone. A member of Windsurf Magazine's Test Team, he is tirelessly enthusiastic about windsurfing and seems to get as much enjoyment teaching it as he does blasting down the Harbour's speed course, or hunting for waves along the coast. Graham Woods - 2IC, Tenerife

National Junior Champion in 2005 and Youth Champion in 2006 and 2007, Graham is a colleague of Adam’s in Team Airborn and joined the team in the summer of 2007, bringing with him a mass of competition experience and enthusiasm. He is tirelessly passionate about the sport and is very intuitive when learning new manoeuvres, picking them up very quickly much to the frustration of the rest of us!

Amy Carter, Tenerife

Amy worked for us part time at the beginning of 2010, but joins the team in Tenerife full time for the summer. She is extremely experienced in windsurf racing and has recently seen the light in the form of wavesailing, where she is learning a little too fast for our liking! Smiley, approachable and very knowledgeable about her passion, she will be a name that will appear more and more in the sport in the near future...

Jamie Hawkins

A name that needs no introduction, Jamie joins us out in Tenerife or Weymouth as often as his ‘day job’ permits, where he proves he is still a match for the best around a course. Three times World Production Board Champion, he is a great asset to the team and remains very perceptive and knowledgeable about how to make equipment perform.

Stitch

The Queen of the beach in Tenerife, Stitch is a half Chow Chow and half Springer Spaniel, and marries attributes of both. She might look cute, and most of the time she is true to form, but mention the word 'ball', or if another canine is on her patch, we are not responsible for her actions! In truth she is a perfect beach hound and provides hours of light wind entertainment.
